Dr. Reginald Crenshaw Sr., PH.D.
Mobile County School Board Commissioner, District 3
Dr. Crenshaw was elected to a six-year term in Nov. 2009 as Mobile County School Board District 3 Commissioner. Dr. Crenshaw, Sr. is a "proud" 1974 graduate of Mattie T. Blount High School. After graduating from Blount with academic honors, Crenshaw enrolled in Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated in1978 with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. While at Morehouse, he pledged Alpha Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and is the Past President of the Mobile Alumni Chapter, Beta Omicron Lambda. He earned a B.S. in Economic from Morehouse College’ a Master’s degree in Administration from University of South Alabama; and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from University of Southern Mississippi.
Dr. Crenshaw returned to Prichard and taught one year at his beloved Blount High School after graduating from Morehouse College. At the age of 21, Crenshaw was elected to a seat on the Prichard City Council. His election to that seat made him one of the youngest elected officials in the United States for a City the size of Prichard, Alabama. While on the Council for eight years, he served as the Council President/Mayor Pro Tem. Crenshaw joined the staff at Bishop State Community College as the Coordinator of Institutional Research and he currently serves as the Director of Title III Programs and adjunct instructor for Business Statistics. In addition to these duties, he was recently appointed Director of the Office of Institutional Research and Development. Dr. Crenshaw was employed by Alabama State University as an Adjunct Instructor at the Mobile Campus of Alabama State University.
His awards and honors are too numerous to name. His services and humanity shows in his dedication to serving others, rather than being served. Dr. Crenshaw is an active member of the Highpoint Baptist Church, and is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Highpoint Educational and Community Enrichment Foundation Board, a non-profit 501-C3 church-based entity. Dr. Crenshaw has three children---Dante, Reginald, Jr., and Whitney Crenshaw. Having been a single parent with custodial responsibility of Whitney and Reginald, Jr., Dr. Crenshaw believes that parenting is a responsibility that either parent must be prepared to assume at any given time and under any given set of circumstances.
